It looks beautiful even if it’s a bad sign. Did you take this just recently? Fungi are usually an autumn thing, aren’t they?

This is from last week. I’m not sure if fungi have a season. I see them growing on rotting wood almost year round.

Oh, I see. I thought they’re a kind of mushrooms so only around in the autumn. My mistake!

It is a type of mushroom, and you probably see more of them in autumn because they’ve had all summer to grow. I’m going to take a guess and say the one I saw is fairly young… on the outside of the tree anyway. Fungi are like icebergs, there is a lot that we can’t see growing under the bark.
Now I’m curious and will have to back in a few weeks and see how big it gets over the summer!
