Mailbox Monday ~ May 11th

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.

After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.

My reading has not been what it used to be. And I miss it. I used to read several books a week. Now it takes several weeks to read a book. Partly because my schedule and activities have changed dramatically over the last couple of years, but also because I feel I let my organization skills slip when I stopped working a 9 to 5 sturctured job. Also, my almost hour-long commute each way to the city was when I did most of my reading.

I am back to work now part-time at my town library, am a volunteer manager at the parrot rescue one day a week, and a volunteer with the forest preserve monitoring wild birds. And I’m working on those organizational skills, which I’m not sure how I let slip away from me!

While the calendar says we are several weeks into spring, it still has not arrived in my garden. This past weekend we had another hard freeze, further delaying planting flowers and most veggies. So the garden is still on hold.

I added some new books over the past few weeks ….

Hi Leslie, I really enjoyed Hello, Summer.
We had rain and snow flurries on Sunday. I don’t plant until Memorial Day weekend so I’ve been doing a lot of reading. Not much else though. I hope you have a great week!

So nice to read your post. We had hail balls today and my Mother’s Day baskets are sheltering in the garage as my cat will eat them – UGH. Hopefully they will get a bit of sun

It is great to have an update from you. You sound very busy.
It is hard for me to think of those of you who are having such cold weather.
    Your books look interesting.
Stay well and enjoy some reading!

I’m sorry that it is still too cold in your world to put in your garden. I often think of those awful hurricanes that constantly descend upon us (an average of 2.5 hurricanes a summer come into our Gulf). Is it worth it to have warm weather most of the year and yet also have hurricanes? Or would it be better to live in a cooler climate without hurricanes?

I will look for Again Again and Restorative Yoga. I miss my restorative yoga class at the Y.
