I haven’t had much time for reading, writing, or visiting blogs this past month or two. And even when I’ve had free time, I found it difficult to concentrate or be productive. Instead, I would go for walks or watch TV and get lost in episodes of Scandal, my favorite escape-from-reality show. My mom had been sick for many years and passed away earlier this month. Even though I knew it would be soon, I still wasn’t totally prepared for the feelings of loss and resulting foggy brain and inability to get much done.
I haven’t been requesting much lately, but I did get some new audio books. I find it easy to listen while I do things around the house and get the yard and plants put away for winter. Now I have to get back to writing; I have a backlog of reviews to finish!

Almost wordless: I love the way the milkweed looks when it goes to seed. I didn’t notice the baby milk weed bugs until I edited the photo; they are to the left of momma bug.

A few new books arrived last week. One is a Christmas story I’m looking forward to reading. The other was a surprise, but it’s a mystery, and I usually enjoy those.
We’re having an unseasonably warm Autumn. Many of my annuals are still blooming. It’s an unusual contrast to the see the leaves falling and the wildflowers all dying off and these pretty pots of brightly colored flowers. So it’s difficult for me to even think about Christmas even though I expect to see holiday decorations in the stores any day now.

The season is changing, the days are getting shorter, the leaves are falling, the wildflowers have gone to seed …. and it was 95 degrees for the past three days! This would be fine if I lived in the south, but I’m in the Midwest. I suppose I should enjoy the warm weather while it lasts, we could have snow in a few weeks!
