Wordless Wednesday: Autumn Joe Pye Weed

Almost wordless: Another wildflower from my garden. This late season bloomer is a real beauty with its deep pink colors. It attracts butterflies in the summer, and at 3 feet tall, adds structure to the winter garden.

I love seed heads and plants in their winter starkness. We leave the seed heads up all all winter for the birds.

I leave them all standing except the Black-eyed Susans. They will self-seed across the entire wildflower garden!

That photo is very appealing – maybe seeing the seeds makes me realize the promise of spring to come.

Pretty! I like that this attracts and nourishes butterflies.

I bet it looks so pretty when the wind blows it all over!
