Mailbox Monday ~ May 14th
Welcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.
After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.
We have had a burst of color the past few days as every living tree has turned green and perennial has popped out of the ground and started to boom. Unfortunately along with it comes pollen and spring allergies, but I am so happy to finally see some color that I will try and overlook the itchy eyes and runny nose! And now if it will stop raining I will finally get my veggie garden seeded.
Last week I mentioned I had several pet bird emergencies and this week was no different. This time a lovebird at the shelter got its toe bit by a larger bird. No, we don’t let them interact, but sometimes birds get away from a volunteer while cleaning, and they can be pretty fast. I am one of the volunteers that does transport to the vet and foster care for injured birds in my home. So, off to the vet we went. Poor little guy lost his toe and is recovering at home here with me. I did manage to get some reading done in the waiting room!
A few new books arrived last week. . .
New Arrivals
Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage from St Martin’s Press.
In the tradition of The Dinner and We Need to Talk About Kevin comes a “bad seed” debut about a mom desperate to find help for her mute young daughter whose disturbing behavior grows increasingly dangerous.
The Disappearing by by Lori Roy from Dutton Books.
Two-time Edgar Award-winning author Lori Roy spins a twisted, atmospheric tale about a small Southern town where girls disappear and boys run away.

I hope you enjoy the spring, despite the allergies, and these books look tempting. The pet emergencies keep you on your toes, don’t they? Oops, I shouldn’t have mentioned “toes.”
Thanks for sharing…and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

Leslie, it’s wonderful that you help the birds in your “neighborwood”. You’ve inspired me to provide birdbaths/drinking water for the outdoor birds here.
Enjoy your new books! This weekend was very busy, but I hope to read more this week.

I remember watching The Bad Seed when I was young and being amazed someone could be so horrible – not sure I want to read Baby Teeth but I’ll watch for your review. Have a good week. I think Spring might actually be here for sure 🙂
