Mailbox Monday ~ April 30th
Welcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.
After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.
Finally some warmer weather and some cleanup time in the garden. I even got a few cool season veggies planted. I’m holding off on the annuals for another few weeks though. The one year I put them in early, we had a late season frost, and I had to go out in the cold and dig them all back up again.
Last Saturday was the 24 Hour Readathon. Despite many distractions and interruptions, I was able to read for about six hours. I was planning on another few hours in the evening, but fell asleep on the couch instead.
New Arrivals
A package of books from Random House. I don’t remember requesting these, so it was a nice surprise.
From the Corner of the Oval by Rebecca Dorey-Stein.
The compulsively readable, behind-the-scenes memoir that takes readers inside the Obama White House, through the eyes of a young staffer learning the ropes, falling in love, and finding her place in the world.
The High Season by Judy Blundell.
In a beach town overrun with vacationers and newly colonized by socialites, one woman goes to extreme lengths when the life she loves is upended. The ultimate summer read, this novel of money, class, and family is perfect for fans of Meg Wolitzer, Curtis Sittenfeld, and Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s The Nest.
Crux: A Cross-Border Memoir by Jean Guerrero.
A daughter’s quest to find, understand, and save her charismatic, troubled, and elusive father, a self-mythologizing Mexican immigrant who travels across continents–and across the borders between imagination and reality; and spirituality and insanity–fleeing real and invented persecutors.

I continue to be constantly amazed at how many authors there are that I have never heard of, including these 3.
