Wordless Wednesday: Red-winged Blackbird

Almost wordless: Male Red-winged Blackbirds are early migrants in the Midwest. They began to appear several weeks ago to claim their territory for nesting season. I haven’t seen any females yet, but they should be arriving soon.

I’ve always loved male red-winged blackbirds. Their songs make me smile and smile.

I expect them any day. Some people have seen them in the Twin Cities, but they haven’t arrived at marshes near me. They seem to bring spring along with them.
