Mailbox Monday ~ January 30th
Welcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.
After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.
It has been a gloomy, cloudy week, and with 48 days still remaining until spring, a gardening book filled with beautiful flowers was just what I needed in my mailbox.
New Arrivals
Garden Flora: The Natural and Cultural History of the Plants In Your Garden by Noël Kingsbury from Timber Press.
This lushly illustrated survey of 133 of the most commonly grown plants explains where each plant came from and the journey it took into home gardens.

Oh boy, you’re doing the Spring countdown 🙂 It’s cold here but almost no snow on the ground at the moment. I think we’re due for some. Your new book is gorgeous!

I started counting down at the winter solstice! That burst of spring air we had a few weeks ago put me in the gardening mood. It even smelled like spring in the yard. No snow here either and I will be very happy if it stays that way. 🙂

Every year I tell myself I’ll have lots of flowers in my backyard when summer arrives but then it never happens the way I want. This book might be the solution. Enjoy your new book!

I solved that problem by gradually adding perennials like coneflower and coreopsis. They make tons of blooms, come back every year, and are somewhat drought resistant.

I’m already starting to plan my garden, too. I’m aiming for mid to late February this year.
