Almost wordless: Although this wildflower is called ‘prairie’ trillium, it’s actually a woodland spring ephemeral.

When I was a kid we had lots of them in the woods behind the barn. Nice shot.

Now that the forest preserve district is doing regular burns and managing the invasive species (ie Buckthorn, ugh) the Trillium are starting to return in greater numbers.
