Mailbox Monday ~ August 4th

SunflowerMailbox-sml_IMG_2937_edited-2Welcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.

After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.

There was nothing in my mailbox last week but I did receive a couple of eGalleys in my digital mailbox. From the description, Suburdia sounds like it was written for me. And chicken is a favorite meal in the Apple Tree household, so more ways to create chicken dishes are always welcome.

New Books

eBooks through NetGalley:

SubirdiaChicken

Welcome to Subirdia by John M. Marzluff from University Press.
In this fascinating and optimistic book, John Marzluff reveals how our own actions affect the birds and animals that live in our cities and towns, and he provides ten specific strategies everyone can use to make human environments friendlier for our natural neighbors.

Chicken: A Fresh Take on Classic Recipes by Marcus Bean from Duncan Baird.
More than 100 brand-new recipes.

How was your week?

I hadn’t thought about that – one is nature and the other food – but I do seem to keep choosing birds! 🙂

It’s always birds with you! Whether you photograph them or eat them: birds, birds, birds!

I hope you enjoy the new books and find some great recipes.

Yeah, Sheila pointed that out too. When I posted the books it didn’t occur to me but now I’m laughing at the irony. Well, I like to eat chicken! And yes, there is one recipe I want to try soon – grilling chicken under a (foil covered) brick.

Love the cover of CHICKEN. Grilling under a brick covered with foil sounds very interesting.

Let us know how it turns out. Wonder what that does? I am very curious.

THANKS for sharing, and enjoy your books and your week.

The brick on the chicken is supposed to help blacken and crisp the skin. If it works for me I’ll post the results.. and the recipe too.
