Wordless Wednesday: Nest

Nest

Almost wordless: I saw a lot of birds carrying nesting material today. This looks like a Robin’s nest.

Beautiful. Something about birds’ nests always cheers me.

We have a nest in our backyard too. Ours are bluebirds. They are fascinating to watch.

I would love to have bluebirds in my yard but I’ve never even had one visit. I have to go a mile or so to the forest preserve to see them.

I’ve been seeing a lot of pairs of birds in our yard. Two doves (I think doves) stopped on my step railing this morning! Thanks for the great photo!

I’ve noticed many of the birds pairing up for mating season now. Doves will nest in backyards so maybe they were checking out the real estate!

Yes, they seem to find anything and just go to it, I have a basket on my front porch and low and behold, they’re picking it apart to decorate their homes. Little darlings that they are.

That made me laugh. Last year the House Sparrows would not stay out of my planters that were lined with the moss baskets. They kept ripping them up!

Oh, I love the subtlety of the gray brances and nest against the buds! There’s a whole theme of ‘newness’ here that is very touching: new birds, new blooms, new beginnings.

This is my favorite time of the year to watch them. I wait for this all winter!

A robin was sitting on a nest on our front porch but seems to have abandoned it. 😦

Awwww, too bad. Sometimes that happens. A few years ago I had a great time watching a nest outside my front window in the shrubs. It wasn’t a good place for the birds though… too near our front door and the garage.

I just noticed birds carrying nesting material this past week. And amazingly, many of them can construct a nest in only a few days.

Your photo of a “rustic” tree house for a robin is perfect!
