Wordless Wednesday: Great Blue Heron
Almost wordless: Always amazing to watch this large bird land in a tree. Seen last week at a local park.

Oh, I’d love to see a bird like that land in a tree!

This is one of my favorite birds! We had one at the pond outside my office building!

I first saw him at the pond and when he spotted me he flew off into a nearby tree. I love watching them take off and land. They don’t look built for flying, and yet they soar.

No they don’t look built for flying, but boy are they gorgeous when they do.

I saw one a few weeks ago but it was white. Maybe that was not a ‘Blue’ Heron. Also, I just saw a gem of a doc at a Film Festival on Birding in Central Park. I’m sure you’ll love it… but really don’t know when or where it will be shown though.

There is a white morph of the blue heron but it’s only found in South Florida. Maybe you saw an Egret but I don’t think they range north of the US.
I’ve heard about the Central Park documentary but it’s only been shown on HBO, which I don’t have. I’ve searched but I can’t find anyplace to rent it or watch it online.
