Mailbox Monday and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday was created by The Printed Page. It is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their home last week.

Mailbox Monday is currently on tour, hosted by a different blog each month. The October host is Marcia at The Mailbox Monday Blog.

For review from the publicist:

Shortest Way Home by Juliette FayThe Shortest Way Home
by Juliette Fay

Sean has spent twenty years in Third World war zones and natural disaster areas, fully embracing what he’d always felt was his life’s mission. But when burnout sets in, Sean is reluctantly drawn home to Belham, Massachusetts, the setting of Fay’s much-loved Shelter Me. There, he discovers that his steely aunt, overly dramatic sister, and quirky nephew are having a little natural disaster of their own. When he reconnects with a woman from his past, Sean has to wonder if the bonds of love and loyalty might just rewrite his destiny.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Share what you read last week and what you are currently reading.

Last week I listened to One Last Thing Before I Go by Jonathan Tropper and And When She Was Good by Laura Lippman. I was hoping to get the reviews written when I finished up my Bloggiesta tasks but that didn’t happen, so I should have them later this week.

I am almost finished reading What the Zhang Boys Know and will have a review and giveaway posted on Wednesday. It’s quite different from what I usually read but I am totally absorbed in these interconnected stories and find them very engaging.

Reading/Listening This Week:

The Graveyard Book by Neil GaimanThis is How You Lose Her by Junot DiazI’ll be listening to The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman over the next two weeks for the RIP VII Group read hosted by Stainless Steel Droppings. I’ll also be listening to The Three Day Affair and This is How You Lose Her.

I haven’t decided on a print book yet, but I’m still trying to get to The Dog Stars, so this may be the week I read it.

I hear The Graveyard Book is wonderful and that should be a spooky audiobook for October. The Shortest Way Home looks like a good one too. Enjoy!

The Juliette Fay book sounds good. I am also hoping to get the Junot books on audio from the library soon – sounds good.

Last week I read most of LOVE AND FATIGUE IN AMERICA by Roger King. Couldn’t finish, too drab, boring. This week I’m reading the much better PLAYING DEAD by Julia Heaberlin.

The Shortest Way Home looks great to me! I can’t wait to see what you think of The Graveyard Book – Gaiman is hit or miss for me.

Happy reading. Gaiman was just in the area at George Mason’s Fall for the Book festival.

I am also reading The Graveyard Book this month – it is a re-read for me and one of my favorite Gaiman books. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your review.

I have not read any Neil Gaiman, perhaps he should go on my bucket list. Here’s my Monday post.

Enjoy your books. I’m going to go hear Gaiman speak in November and can’t wait. My husband’s not thrilled about going with me, but he’ll survive.

While I am familiar with the Graveyard Book I haven’t heard of the other two on your reading list this week. I hope you enjoy them
