Wordless Wednesday: Hunting for Dinner

Almost Wordless: This Cooper’s Hawk was hunting for dinner at my bird feeders. The red eyes indicates this is an adult. (Click for sharper image.)

WOW…I guess when they are hungry, they’ll even eat at a feeder. Amazing shot.

Cooper’s Hawks usually go after medium size birds or small mammals. She chased a group of sparrows from the feeder into a bush. When she came up empty she sat in the apple tree for a while and then perched on the fence waiting for another opportunity.

A hawk (at least I think it was a hawk) perched on our deck a couple times but I was never able to get a picture of it. They’re magnificent creatures!

Gorgeous photos. We see hawks around, but never close to our house.
