Wordless Wednesday: Black Swallowtail
Almost wordless.
A Swallowtail butterfly in my Verbena this past weekend. I had a lot of the caterpillars in my parsley last year so I was hoping for a lot of butterflies this year.

Beautiful! Do you take like 20 shots automatically and then choose the best? Or were you really lucky?

There’s always an element of luck. The Swallowtail liked my flowers enough to hang around for 5 minutes which gave me time to grab the camera, sit on the ground and take about 25 shots from different angles. About half were not sharp enough or the light was wrong and from the remainder I chose the one I liked best.

Another beautiful shot…glad to see that you were rewarded for your caterpillar army from last year 🙂

Those caterpillars were hungry little guys. I designated one parsley plant as theirs and moved them over to it so I would have some left for myself.

Another great shot! He’s beautiful. I love the idea of letting the caterpillars have one plant and moving them all there. I hadn’t thought of that. Once I get my garden back, I’ll definitely be stealing this idea. 😉
