It’s a heated birdbath mounted on my deck railing. When it’s really, really cold it steams like a spa and ice crystals form on the rim.

This is truly wonderful — a heated bath for the little critters/birds? I love it! xo

I put the heated bath up last winter. The squirrels were the first to find it. Most of the birds, being cautious creatures, waited until they saw the sparrows safely drinking from it and then they showed up.

Leslie, I found your blog thanks to Rebecca Rasmussen, and I’m so glad I did. Your pictures and words are wonderful, and I very much enjoy both. This little guy is no exception; what a great shot. My squirrels give me the giggles all winter, thanks to their antics; I’m particularly partial to the tiny red squirrel who thinks it owns the entire backyard world.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m thrilled you like the site. I can spend hours watching the critters outside. A lot more of my photos are on my nature blog, LadyMin’s Garden, but some of it spills over here too.
