Musing Monday

Musing Monday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This week’s musing is: What element, if a book has it, will make you almost always read that book (and name a book –or books– that contain it)!

A new twist this week: Each participant to MM today needs to ask their own question for the next person to answer, in addition to answering the previous person’s question. You don’t answer ALL of the questions… just the question asked by the person who left a comment before you (or by me, if you’re the first one here to play in MM this week!)

My answer:

I will always read a book that has the element of time travel. I just love them!

A few of my favorites are:

  • Replay by Ken Grimswold
  • Lightening by Dean Koontz
  • From Time To Time by Jack Finney
  • Now And Then by Jacqueline Sheehan
  • The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
  • The Light Of Other Days by Arthur C. Clark

Now for my question. Do you judge a book by it’s cover and are you ever disappointed that the cover had nothing to do with the story?

I love that question. I don’t know how many times I’ve passed up a book because of its cover only to find out from someone else it was good while picking up one that looked great and was sadly disappointed.

Here’s mine: Do you have books you read that you are somewhat embarrassed to read in public or let anyone know you read, if so, what are they and why do you read them?

I like the travel element too. I also like historical bacground of a place!

You can also answer my question at my Musing Mondays post!

I never thought about the cover aspect before, but, as I think about it, yes, sometimes a cover will turn me off to the book. But, mostly, if I see a cover I’m not sure about, I will read the inside flap to get an idea of what the book is about, especially, if I have read the author before.
