Mailbox Monday ~ October 20th

CardinalMailboxAutumnWelcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.

After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.

I received one audiobook in the mail and two audio downloads last week. I have a lot of yard and garden cleanup to be done this coming week and piles of leaves to rake, so I will get in a lot of audio reading time with my mp3 player.

My Norway Maple tree is producing red leaves this fall. I’ve lived with this tree for 25 years and this is the first time it’s ever turned red – in the past it’s always been golden or yellow. Perhaps it’s the crazy weather, but there are several branches of deep red. They are too pretty to chop up and turn into mulch.

Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult from Random House Audio.
For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe that she would be abandoned as a young child, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.

I received Leaving Time as well! I hope to start listening to it this week. Possibly today as I am home most of today and plan on tackling the jungle I call a spare room 🙂

I know the feeling – my spare room is starting to look like an episode of Hoarders!

I can’t wait to download Leaving Time! I thought I was getting it from Vine…but they had made a mistake and didn’t have it after all…so I will get it for Sparky.

    Enjoy your week!

Looking forward to reading Leaving Time. Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read all of her adult novels. Her last one, The Storyteller, was a 4/4 for me. My other 2 favorites are My Sister’s Keeper and The Pact.

Believe it or not, I have yet to read a Jody Picoult book. I keep hearing good things so I requested and audio copy and now I have no excuse for not listening!

Glad to hear it. Every book she writes is at least good. Most are very good. And some are downright excellent.

Enjoy the books. Picoult usually writes about topics that are a bit too heavy for me.

  9. What beautiful leaves! Ours are just starting to turn and for the most part we don’t get such a variety of colors other than a Japanese Maple which I didn’t understand the appeal of when we first moved into this house. Until the fall when it becomes just stunning. Great new books! I’ve only read one Picoult but I’d like to read more.

The red leaves are quite beautiful! That is strange about the color. I hope you enjoy Leaving Time.

Those leaves are beautiful! Trees with leaves that turn color in the fall are few and far between where I live. That’s one of the things I miss about living up north. That and snow! We gave my husband’s aunt a side shoot of my mom’s banana tree 19 yrs. ago and it never produced bananas until this year. Strange, considering it always grew bananas at my mom’s house.

I hope you enjoy your new book!
