Wordless Wednesday: The Monarchs Have Arrived
Almost wordless: Last week there were Monarch Butterflies in my wildflower garden. This one is enjoying the Purple Coneflower. A few of them even landed on the Milkweed, proving that if you plant it, they will come.

So nice to see them around again. No caterpillars on my milkweed yet though.

How nice. I have only a few cone flower plants and fewer milkweed. Maybe next year they will come.

I only have four Milkweed plants, which I hope to increase next year. But they really like the purple coneflower.

I have two hummingbird feeders this year and so far no hummingbirds in the yard. I have seen them in the park a few blocks away, so maybe I’m just missing their visits.

I was actually surprised, I thought it was too early, at least for our back yard usually they come more in August, and when it’s much warmer than now. I will try to give them your address

Amazing photo! Beautiful and clear. Just wondering, are the Monarchs you see passing through during migration? What is their flight path? I’m reading the book The Homing Instinct by Bernd Henrich. Mesmerized by the capability of these tiny creatures.

Monarchs do breed here so I am hopeful that the ones I saw left some eggs. I have a few milk weed plants in the garden but so far no caterpillars. I enjoyed The Homing Instinct – wonderful book.
