Wordless Wednesday: Mr. Turkey
Almost wordless: While out on a birdwalk Saturday, I noticed the turkeys were keeping their distance from the humans. They actually flew over a fence to get away from us. A flying turkey is something you don’t see very often. They must know something is up. This is a photo from earlier this year when they were much friendlier and proudly displaying for the females.

Wow, amazing pic, Leslie! We have a skinny turkey in our neighborhood. I think he’s so skinny because we see him all over a half-mile area. He must be in evasion mode 😉

They’re normally much skinnier. This guy was puffing up his feathers to impress the ladies.

Interesting Pic… We had a flock of them blocking one of the back roads in my area a week ago 🙂

I saw a truck full of turkeys yesterday and felt sorry for them. I don’t blame them for avoiding humans!

There’s a clutch of wild turkeys at my parent’s place along the bosque. My mom feeds them and only grumbles when they step on her lettuces and such. While not friendly, I can get within 5 feet of them if I am offering food.

I’ve never tried feeding them. They usually run away when I get within 10 or 20 feet. And they run fast!

What a wonderful photo!
I see wild turkeys in the mountains here in CA. They travel in “gangs” and are always fun to spot (although some are confrontational).

The group of turkeys that I always saw on my walk, have moved onto another area. That is one big guy!

Oh my, they must have known what time it is in the year … thanksgiving is fast approaching. 😉 What a beautiful photo. Do they run around wild? Or you took this in a farm?

These are wild. They live in the wooded area of one of the parks where I go birding.

I’ve never come across a turkey in ‘the wild’. So prestigious.
