Wordless Wednesday: First Autumn Leaves
Almost wordless: Most of the trees in the Chicago suburbs still have green leaves. This Sumac cluster has turned bright red and stands out brilliantly against the still green background.

I haven’t noticed the leaves changing here yet, but they should be soon since our nights are cooling off.

We have a lot of Sumac lining the bike trails around town and their leaves always seem to be the first to show any signs of fall. I love their beautiful reddish-rust tones. Unfortunately, our temps don’t seem to be cooperating. High 70s for a few more days and then back into the 80s. 😦
