Mailbox Monday ~ May 25th

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, created by Marcia of To Be Continued, a place where readers share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.

After several years of being on tour with different blogs as the monthly host, the Mailbox Monday Blog is now the permanent home for the meme.

Cold rainy weather turned into hot, humid rainy weather this weekend. Lots of sun yesterday so I was able to get some gardening done, but I’m two weeks behind on the annuals and veggies.

Today is Memorial Day, but with all the public restrictions still in place, it feels like any other day in the backyard. My state (Illinois) has cancelled most activities for the summer.

I work part-time at my town library, and last week I went back to work on a reduced schedule. We can’t open the buidling to the public yet, but thanks to a recent remodel, we have a drive-up window. So residents can reserve books and pick them up at the drive-up. A little bit of normal is starting to return.

New Arrivals

Audubon Birding Adventures for Kids by Elissa Wolfson, Margaret Barker.

Whether exploring the forest, the backyard, or the city, you and your kids will learn about the habits of North America’s most popular songbirds, how to create safe and welcoming environments for them, how to observe them, and how to construct easy and safe species-appropriate birdhouses and feeders for common birds.

Audio Downloads

Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld, read by Carrington MacDuffie. from PRH Audio.

From the New York Times bestselling author of American Wife and Eligible, a novel that imagines a deeply compelling what-might-have-been: What if Hillary Rodham hadn’t married Bill Clinton?

Little Eyes by Samanta Schweblin, read by Cassandra Campbell. from PRH Audio.

A visionary novel about our interconnected present, about the collision of horror and humanity, from a master of the spine-tingling tale.

I wonder if any of the libraries in my area have a drive-up window. What a good idea! I hope you love your new books and have a good week, Leslie. Spring has finally arrived (it’s 80 as I post this!!)
