First Book of the Year 2016
Happy New Year!
And welcome to First Book of the Year hosted by Sheila at Bookjourney.
Join us as we kick off another year of great reading.
A Creepy First Book
My choice is Hidden Bodies. This is the sequel to You, one of my favorite books from 2014. It was dark, creepy, and yet compulsive. And in the end it left me wanting more. So I was thrilled to find out there was a sequel, and even more excited to get an advance copy of the book which publishes in February.
My Reading Buddy
This is Jentrie, one of my reading buddies. He investigates all new things as possible chew toys or perhaps something to eat.
Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes
Charmingly murderous anti-hero Joe Goldberg continues his twisted quest for the perfect love in this thrilling follow-up to the “deeply dark yet mesmerizing” You. When Joe follows the woman he wants to marry to the West Coast, he never imagines that his obsession will lead him to such tragedy.

Great photo….and I am definitely curious about this book. I have You…but haven’t finished it. I plan to return to it some time this year…and then I may have to get this sequel.
My First Book this year is a sequel to the one I read last year: FIRST BOOK OF 2016 POST

He’s not allowed to chew on books but he always tries. I give him cardboard to shred. The cardboard inside toilet paper rolls are one of his favorites – and a cheap toy too!

I listened to You and loved the narrator. I have Hidden Bodies in print but might go the audio route since the same person reads it. Happy New Year!

I agree, the narration was fantastic. It enhanced the creepiness. I don’t want to wait for the audio release, but if I do a re-read I’ll definitely listen.

Oh boy, you are brave to read this series. It certainly is different from what it seems like a stalker surviving, either not dying or going to jail. Hau’oli Makahiki Hou.

I have You sitting on my bookshelf – one of the books I hope to get round to early this year – so I’m sure I’ll be adding this book to my collection some time in the future. I hope you enjoy!

You was one of my favorite books in 2014 too. The audio version was amazing. What is it about Joe?!? Hypnotic and repulsive at the same time. I’m looking forward to Hidden Bodies!!

Yes! As horrible as Joe was, I just had to know more about what was going on in his psychopathic mind.

Happy New Year. Looks like there are some fans among the commenters for this book so you are not alone. I am not sure if I’d like dark so may not be for me. Enjoy.

I can’t resist finding out what happens to Joe. He is so compellingly creepy. And this book starts out right where the first one left off.
