Wordless Wednesday: Winter Solstice

CantignyEntrance_IMG_3924

Almost wordless: Yesterday was the winter solstice in North America. I took this photo several years ago while out on the Christmas Bird Count a few days before the solstice. Unlike this year we already had snow in 2009. Snows brightens it up a little, but it still portrays the grayness and waning light of the early winter months.

Beautiful photo! I like to look at snow from afar. Here’s hoping we don’t get any of the white stuff this winter.

I think we had 1/4 inch of snow on the ground yesterday, but it is gone today. Weird winter. But the gray atmosphere is omnipresent…just like in your photo.

Such a beautiful photo! I hope this winter will be mild, although snow scenes are lovely to look at.

Beautiful photo! I’ve lived in Florida for almost 30 years, so I miss snow so much!
