Charlie: My Reading and Blogging Companion

It’s been over a year since I adopted Charlie, a Lovebird, from a rescue shelter. At the time I thought Charlie was a boy but when the bird began to lay eggs, I realized he had to be a she. It took almost a year for Charlie to adjust to her new home and feel safe and secure, but she has now settled in nicely. She went for her vet check-up a couple of weeks ago and is in excellent health. She even squawked at the doctor; naughty girl.

Blogging Companion

Charlie the Lovebird

Charlie likes to be out of her cage house as much as possible. As long as she behaves she is welcome to sit on my shoulder or desk when I blog or am working from home. Misbehaving includes chewing my papers instead of her toys or being excessively nippy, all normal behavior for a pet bird but distracting when I’m trying to work.

Blogging Interruption

Charlie the Lovebird

Walking on the keyboard is not a good idea for the obvious poopy reason but also because she thinks fingers are toys and tries to nip them as I type.

Sharing Breakfast

Charlie the Lovebird

Although Charlie has her own breakfast bowl of fruit, my plate is always much more interesting!

LOVE these photos of Charlie. What a gorgeous bird! My favorite is the one on your keyboard with the flowers and other bird in the background. Sort of an indoor-outdoor shot!

Charlie is the cutest! She looks like such a character. My blogging companion, Ptak, sits in the crook of my arm and makes clacking keyboard noises while I work. Then he chases fingers too. Must be a small bird hobby, haha.

Sometimes Charlie prefers sitting in the crook of my arm … which is lots of fun when I’m trying to type. And she doesn’t like to me moved!

I’m sure my cat would not do well with a bird out of the cage, BUT, Charlie is adorable. I have had canaries and cats, but not out of the cage birds. A good blogging buddy.

Oooooo, Charlie. It’s funny, everybody has cats. Including me. Knowing the animal lover that I am I would have a bird and two cats… and maybe a dog. Anyway, hope Charlie keeps you awake.

Charlie is so beautiful! I love her plumage, so bright and colorful! I’ve always wanted a love bird or canary but my cat Arashi is…well…let’s just say he’s a very successful hunter. Have fun with the rest of the Read-a-Thon!

Charlie is such an attractive bird- she looks so pretty in front of the blue flowers on your screen. It must be fun to share your breakfast with a bird.
