Wordless Wednesday: Shaggy Ink Caps

Shaggy Ink Cap Mushrooms

Almost wordless: A pair of Shaggy Ink Cap Mushrooms popped up in a grassy area in the park. I’m pretty sure they are edible but I draw the line at foraging mushrooms as mistakes can be fatal.

Edible or not, they certainly make for a pretty photograph.

I think they’re edible too, but I’m with you: photograph, don’t eat.

We are mushroom foragers, but are super careful with which types we will gather – some are easy to spot, and others have very poisonous cousins that are almost identical.

You are smart to only photograph if you aren’t sure. Beautiful photo by the way!

Cool shot. I have captured lots of shots of wild shroons in my woods. I forgot about them. Thanks for the prompt!

Every several years, our area has a really good mushroom season. I love taking photos of them, but hesitate to eat them. I had read one too many mushroom books that tell me exactly how little we know about them.
