Mailbox Monday and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Mailbox Monday

CardinalMailboxMailbox Monday was created by The Printed Page. It is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their home last week.

Mailbox Monday is currently on tour, hosted by a different blog each month. The March host is Caitlin @ chaotic compendiums.

Last week I received one book I requested from AmazonVine (I couldn’t resist a main character who is a bird watcher) and a surprise audiobook from Penguin Audio.

For review from AmazonVine:

Snapper by Brian KimberlingSnapper
by Brian Kimberling

Nathan Lochmueller studies birds, earning just enough money to live on. He drives a glitter-festooned truck, the Gypsy Moth, and he is in love with Lola, a woman so free-spirited and mysterious she can break a man’s heart with a sigh or a shrug. Around them swirls a remarkable cast of characters… And at the center of it all is Nathan, creeping through the forest to observe the birds he loves and coming to terms with the accidental turns his life has taken.

From Penguin Audio:

Angelopolis by Danielle TrussoniAngelopolis
by Danielle Trussoni

A New York Times bestseller and global sensation, Angelology unfurled a brilliant tapestry of myth and biblical lore on our present-day world and plunged two star-crossed heroes into an ancient battle against mankind’s greatest enemy: the fatally attractive angel-human hybrids known as the Nephilim. With Angelopolis, the conflict deepens into an inferno of danger and passion unbound.

A decade has passed since Verlaine saw Evangeline alight from the Brooklyn Bridge, the sight of her new wings a betrayal that haunts him still. Now an elite angel hunter for the Society of Angelology, he pursues his mission with single-minded devotion: to capture, imprison, and eliminate her kind.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Share what you read last week and what you are currently reading.

Last week

I posted two reviews:
The Scent of Darkness by Margot Berwin
The Shining by Stephen King

I finished listening to the audio of The World Until Yesterday by Jared Diamond and read The Urban Hermit: A Memoir by Sam MacDonald, a book club selection. Reviews will be posted later this week.

I also posted a giveaway for one copy of The Mapmaker’s War for fantasy fans with a mailing address in the US or Canada. To enter leave a comment by March 9th on the giveaway post.

This week

I plan on reading Life After Life by Kate Atkinson and Gardening for the Birds.

In audio I’ll be finishing Kinsey and Me by Sue Grafton and then listening to Farside by Ben Bova.
