Mailbox Monday and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Mailbox Monday
Mailbox Monday was created by The Printed Page. It is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their home last week.
Mailbox Monday is currently on tour, hosted by a different blog each month. The February host is Audra @ Unabridged Chick.
Last week I received a couple of advance books and an audiobook.
For review from the Atria Books:
Ordinary Grace
by William Kent Krueger
New Bremen, Minnesota, 1961. The Twins were playing their debut season, ice-cold root beers were at the ready at Halderson’s Drug Store soda counter, and Hot Stuff comic books were a mainstay on every barbershop magazine rack. It was a time of innocence and hope for a country with a new, young president. But for thirteen-year-old Frank Drum it was a summer in which death assumed many forms. When tragedy unexpectedly comes to call on his family … Frank finds himself thrust into an adult world full of secrets, lies, adultery, and betrayal..
A win from Quirk Books:
The Resurrectionist
by E.B. Hudspeth
Philadelphia. The late 1870s. A city of cobblestone sidewalks and horse-drawn carriages. Home to the famous anatomist and surgeon Dr. Spencer Black. The son of a “resurrectionist” (aka grave robber), Dr. Black studied at Philadelphia’s esteemed Academy of Medicine, where he develops an unconventional hypothesis: What if the world’s most celebrated mythological beasts—mermaids, minotaurs, and satyrs were in fact the evolutionary ancestors of humankind?
For review from Blackstone Audio through Audiobook Jukebox:
Telescopes on Earth have detected an Earth-sized planet circling a star some thirty light-years away. Now the race is on to get pictures of that distant world that show whether or not the planet is truly like Earthand if it bears life. Farside observatory will have the largest optical telescope in the solar system and the most sensitive radio telescope, insulated from the interference of Earth’s radio chatter by a thousand kilometers of the moon’s solid body. But building Farside is a complex, dangerous task. Accidents happen, some of them fatal. What they ultimately find stuns everyone, and humanity will never be the same.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Share what you read last week and what you are currently reading.
Last week
I posted two reviews:
The Bone Bed by Patricia Cornwell
The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan.
I finished listening to the audio of The Shining for the #shineon read-along and read Scent of Darkness. Reviews will be posted later this week.
This week
I’ll be reading The Urban Hermit: A Memoir by Sam MacDonald for book club. Has anyone read this? It’s a new one for me so I checked out a copy from my library.
In audio I’ll be listening to Kinsey and Me by Sue Grafton and The World Until Yesterday by Jared Diamond.

Farside sounds good! I hope you’re enjoying The World Until Yesterday. I saw it in the book shop the other day and I was tempted (but… too many books still to read).

Bova is an old favorite of mine so I’m looking forward to Farside. The World Until Yesterday is fascinating… however, I will say it won’t be for everyone.
