Wordless Wednesday: Camouflage

Almost wordless: The goldfinch’s bright yellow color stands out in a crowd but blends nicely in the yellow coneflower in my yard.

Oh he’s such a cute little thing. I miss having a garden so much

My garden is my ‘therapy’. I would miss it terribly if I had to move.

Wow, I missed him at first…how cool.

wow, me too. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for. Wonder what kind of flowers cardinals use for camouflage.

I don’t see cardinals flitting around in flowers the way finches do. Probably because they are larger birds and not as acrobatic. They forage on the ground underneath plants and the female tends to blend in… but the male is still very visible.

It sure does! I would have missed him in the top photo!

Took me a few seconds to spot him!

Wonderful pictures! When I see male goldfinches in my backyard, they are always so easy to spot. It’s difficult to imagine how they could ever blend into any environment. I guess we don’t have enough yellow flowers!

They get lost in the sunflowers too. I usually hear them singing before I see them.

What gorgeous photos! The camouflage is truly spectacular.

It’s so pretty, and I almost missed in amidst those bright flowers.

I wouldn’t have even seen him in that first photo had you not pointed him out!
